MARTINE JEAN-BAPTISTE

Martine Jean-Baptiste, CNM, MS, BSN has been involved in women’s health since 1986 after graduating with her BS degree in nursing from the College of Mount Saint Vincent. She has worked with women and their families throughout the lifecycle in a variety of settings. She subsequently graduated from State University of New York, Downstate with a MS in midwifery in 2000. As a licensed midwife, she worked at an inner city hospital as well as a free-standing birth center. From June 2002 to 2019, Ms. Jean-Baptiste co-founded and ran a very successful home birth practice, JJB Midwifery, serving the five boroughs of New York City offering full scope midwifery care. In 2013, she spearheaded the founding of the nonprofit organization, Foundation for Advancement of Haitian Midwives, Inc. (FAHM). She serves as Adjunct Faculty at New York University’s Midwifery Program. She believes in supporting women’s right to safe, supportive, and informed healthcare throughout the lifecycle. She is a founding board member and currently serves as the Executive Director.
