Empowering Midwives for a stronger Haiti

The year 2020 was designated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as the Year of the Nurse and the Midwife. We are in the fourth month of the year and what a doozy it is!

On March 19th, after identifying two (2) cases of COVID-19 (novel Coronavirus), Haiti declared a State of National Emergency closing its borders, airports, schools, businesses and instituting a national curfew. Haiti is now facing a public health crisis amidst an already difficult economic and political atmosphere.

FAHM has had to switch tracks when it comes to this year's programming plans and respond to the immediate crisis as well as its residual effects and plan on continuing our programs, adapting and adjusting as needed.

We ask that you help us ride these times by joining us in "FAHM's 5-5-20-20 Campaign."

FAHM is working closely with the midwifery association (AISFH) with the development and implementation of a comprehensive immediate COVID-19 Pandemic Plan & Response.

We are looking to build a strong donor base to be able to help with this unprecedented pandemic as we continue to carry out our mission and programs.

We are looking for:

5 monthly donors @ $5/month

5 monthly donors @ $5/month

20 monthly donors @ $20/month

20 monthly donors @ $20/month

DONATE

Immediate needs:

  • Providing the midwives with proper protective equipment enabling them to safely take care of women, girls and newborns (masks, face shields, gowns, gloves).

  • Providing masks to individuals within the communities the midwives serve. (AISFH has active chapters in each of Haiti's ten Departments.)

Please join us during these next three weeks leading up to the International Day of the Midwife on May 5th, 2020 which coincides with #Giving TuesdayNow.

What a marvelous way to celebrate our unsung heroes on the front lines!

A donation in any amount is always welcomed; as we say in Kreyol, "Ti pil ti pil fe chaj" (A little bit plus a little bit makes a load).

Midwives save lives.

Help save a midwife’s life and enable them to do what they do best.

A special shout out to all front line workers globally. Thank you for your service.

Together let’s stand strong and make a difference.
